Securing Government Organisations with MFA

The London Borough of Hounslow has taken security and protection seriously for many years. Previously, they issued hardware tokens to staff and contractors, to ensure privacy and maintain security of sensitive records. Unfortunately, the overhead and administrative costs associated with issuing, maintaining and replacing hardware tokens outpaced budget allowances.

In a budget evaluation and review of available security options, they found that staff would lose expensive tokens which required cancellation. Tokens also required administrative work to track expiry dates and resulted in creating designated projects, for the sole purpose to manage large numbers of staff to refresh tokens or issue new hardware.

We had already issued a significant proportion of staff with mobile phones and tablets and we recognised that we could further leverage the investment to reduce the cost and administration overhead of physical MFA tokens by utilising the SecurEnvoy solution.

 – Andy Connor, Director of ICT, London Borough of Hounslow

London Borough of Hounslow achieved cost savings targets and lowered administrative overhead imposed on technical staff, deploying SecurEnvoy’s SecurAccess MFA solution. Since 2012, SecurEnvoy has deployed multiple updates and supported the IT team with lowered costs and reduced administrative time.
